Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Timothy Lee, 28, Sun Prairie, Wis., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge William Conley to 18 months in prison for distributing cocaine in Madison. Lee pleaded guilty on April 11, 2011, to distributing 55.9 grams of cocaine on September 23, 2010.

At sentencing, Judge Conley noted that Lee engaged in six separate sales of cocaine to law enforcement agents during the time span from September 2010 to December 2010, with the sales totaling at least 100 grams but less than 200 grams of cocaine. Judge Conley expressed concern regarding Lee's circulation of a picture of Lee posing with an AK-47 assault rifle, which could be interpreted as a signal of violence relating to the lifestyle of drug dealing. As a result, the Court imposed the high-end of the advisory guidelines range of 12 to 18 months imprisonment.

The charges against Lee were the result of an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force. The prosecution of this case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel J. Graber.
